What It's REALLY Like to Work at Perodigm

Updated: Apr 16, 2021

Let's be honest, starting any new job is stressful.

Even though you nailed the interview and got hired over a slew of qualified candidates, you still wonder 'how do I fit in here' or even 'am I good enough to fit in here'? (Imposter Syndrome is very real, about 70% of people will experience this phenomenon in their lifetime.)

About a month ago, I stepped into my new role as Marketing Specialist at Perodigm, combating my Imposter Syndrome and attempting to assume a more laidback mindset. Any trepidation I was experiencing quickly dissolved as I walked into a casual, supportive work environment. I was assured that at any point I could ask for help or make suggestions and best of all - I was invited to start by just taking it all in and learning.

Perhaps the best thing about Perodigm is the team. They're all knowledgable without pretension, and don't pretend to have everything figured out. (The world of marketing and media is constantly changing and evolving, so being an 'expert' is really just ongoing research and lifelong learning.) And... the vibe in the office is always light and sometimes conversations go to some pretty zany places.

Everyone has their own experience and skill set that they bring to the team. Rob, the Creative Director, has worked many years in the industry and has an extensive background in strategic design and video production. Brent, the Marketing Director and "The Most Immaculate Beard in the Marketing Game" has creative ideas and a history of successful campaigns. Amanda, the Project Manager, successfully handles the technical aspects of the agency including web development, web design, and SEO. And I, the Marketing Specialist, am a communications professional with experience doing marketing and promotions for HotelRED, a boutique hotel in Madison, WI.

The most eye-opening part of my time at Perodigm so far is how truly great the clients are. By writing the Client Spotlights I've gotten the opportunity to chat with owners and managers about their businesses, values, industries, goals, and how Perodigm has helped them reach successful milestones. While digging deeper, I found that all of them genuinely help people with the products or services they offer. It makes doing this job even better knowing we're helping people help people. (I especially admire Your Call MN, an important public service campaign created to raise awareness about and increase reporting of suspected human/sex trafficking in the state of Minnesota. They're doing difficult, but necessary work to provide resources for vulnerable communities.)

It has been a bit of an adjustment working in the small village of Cambridge, WI. But, I've grown to appreciate its charm and quaintness. Perodigm's office is located right on Main Street, right across from the Cambridge Market and next to Galleria 214. CommonHouse Cafe has the most excellent baked oatmeal (probably in existence) and Little Joys Children's Boutique has great toys, clothes, and games for kids. Stopping in Rowe Pottery Works is always a treat, even just to see what new, hand-crafted pieces they have in store.

I'm excited to see what the rest of my time at Perodigm has in store. I'm looking forward to working with the team to help brands reach their fullest potential. Whether it's web development, graphic design, video production, or marketing strategy, feel free to reach out, we'd love to connect with you.
